HOW IT WORKS

The Accenture Research Life Sciences Cloud enables life sciences researchers and informatics professionals to quickly aggregate, access and analyze research data from multiple applications. The data are accessible from a single interface, with integrated workflow, reporting and analytics capabilities. Incorporating a modern user interface and a secure, multi-tenant environment, the platform enables easier collaboration across the R&D enterprises, including with external partners.

WHAT WE THINK

WHO WE ARE

Brad Michel is a Managing Director in Accenture’s global Accelerated R&D Services group. He is responsible for driving Accenture’s strategy, offerings and services across the Life Sciences R&D functions, from research through late stage development, and into the early stages of commercialization, launch and patient services. Prior to this role, Brad had responsibility for some of Accenture’s largest R&D client accounts.

Working in Life Sciences his entire career, Brad has a broad background in business advisory and management consulting, IT strategy and solution delivery, and outsourcing operations across Pharmaceutical R&D. His focus is on helping clients drive transformation through innovation, operational efficiency, and cost savings.

He has a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering from Villanova University, with minors in Business and Computer Science. He lives in suburban Philadelphia with his wife and three sons.

Joe Donahue is a Managing Director with Accenture’s Accelerated Research and Development Services business where he leads Accenture’s global life sciences research practice. Mr. Donahue has more than twenty-five years of executive level entrepreneurial and Board experience in global life sciences and technology companies and private equity firms. Prior to joining Accenture, his roles included Senior Vice President at BioReference Laboratories / GeneDx, the third largest diagnostics testing laboratory in the world, Senior Vice President Life Sciences with Thomson Reuters Intellectual Property & Science, as well as leadership positions in, or as a Board member, to several early-stage life sciences research, informatics and analytics companies. He has degrees in Medicinal Chemistry and Computer Science from Villanova University in Villanova, PA.

Jens Hoefkens is a Principal Director in Accenture’s global Accelerated R&D Services group. He is responsible for the strategy of Accenture’s Research Life Sciences Cloud (RLSC) and directs the platform’s product management group. In addition, he manages partner relationships with Accenture Research Life Sciences Cloud.

Working in Life Sciences his entire career, Jens has a broad background in pharmaceutical research, translational medicine, and pre-clinical development. He has been working with world-leading pharma, biotech, and agriculture companies and academic research centers and has been responsibility for a wide-ranging portfolio of successful enterprise informatics solutions, including Genedata Expressionist, PerkinElmer Signals, and TIBCO Spotfire.

Jens holds a dual major Ph.D. in Mathematics and Physics from Michigan State University. He lives in the Boston area with his wife and two children.

Anthony Sokolnicki is a Sr. Principal in Accenture’s global Accelerated R&D Services group. He is responsible for driving technology and platform strategy and offerings across life sciences. Anthony is currently the lead architect for the Accenture Research Life Sciences Cloud platform, responsible for driving the technology strategy and vision for the capability.

Anthony has worked with leading-edge technologies throughout his career. Previously he was part of Accenture’s Technology Labs where he focused on technology innovation applied to industries ranging from financial services to resource management. Anthony has a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Washington and a MBA from the University of Oklahoma with an emphasis in MIS and Finance.

Mike Stapleton is responsible for the life sciences business service strategy at Accenture, driving the execution of a five year strategy and business plan, working across the line of business, platform and domain leaders to develop and execute the strategies necessary to grow the life science business, including M&A, alliances, transformative deal shapes, and industry adjacencies.

Prior to joining Accenture, Mike held the position of VP & CIO, R&D IT at Merck (MSD), where he had global responsibility for all IT and informatics in support of Merck Research Laboratories (MRL) from discovery, through clinical, regulatory, safety and RWE. At Merck he most recently led a broad ranging 5 year strategy and talent planning initiative for MRL IT and drove cross-industry thought leadership on pre-competitive business models. For over twenty years prior to Merck, Mike led scientific businesses serving the pharmaceutical, biotech and research industries; as GM Informatics & VP Growth and Innovation at Perkin Elmer; VP Informatics, Marketing and eBusiness at Life Technologies and as EVP & COO at Accelrys. Mike has performed scientific research in industry at British Petroleum and in academia at Cornell University; he has a Ph.D. in Computational Chemistry and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry.
