The aerospace and defense industry is no stranger to artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. But the blistering pace of technology evolution means AI is set to be an end-to-end game changer for the entire industry.

Sixty-eight percent of aerospace and defense executives say AI will “significantly” transform their industry within the next three years.

Development and take-up of more sophisticated and broader AI solutions are mostly in the formative stages with 67% of aerospace and defense executives saying that AI is advancing faster than their company’s pace of adoption. AI’s potential to drive growth means that aerospace and defense executives need to find ways to accelerate their adoption of broader AI solutions that can deliver breakthrough outcomes. And that means focusing not just on the technology but also on the way that it will transform the workforce and its capabilities.

So, what do aerospace and defense companies need to move forward decisively? There are three key elements to this: a comprehensive change management program, providing employees with new learning and reskilling opportunities and reimagining tasks in order to build, sustain and collaborate with AI capabilities.
