By 2045 there will only be 2.7 workers for every Australian aged over 65, down from five workers today. This dramatic increase in Australia’s older population will have enormous fiscal consequences for the nation. Given the budgetary constraints faced by providers and government, the sector needs to drive a step change in efficiency—pushing down costs while improving the quality and accessibility of care. The key to achieving this goal is using healthcare Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
