Simon Mezger is a managing director within Accenture Strategy, leading the Resources practice across Australia and New Zealand.
Simon drives competitive strategy and performance improvement to help navigate uncertain futures for resources using corporate and business unit strategy formulation, planning and execution.
With over 20 years spent in strategy consulting, Simon has a deep understanding of the Australian resources sector with a particular focus on electricity and gas. He has extensive experience across the value chain including retail, distribution, centralised / distributed generation, transmission and adjacent industry service providers, and has worked with numerous high profile utility clients both globally and within Australia. Simon’s expertise encompasses organic and inorganic strategy, business model development, assessment of market attractiveness / competitive positioning, post-merger integration, organisational restructure and operational improvement.
Simon’s experience spans multiple continents, having spent time working in South Korea, Indonesia, China, Western Europe, North America, New Zealand and India.
A published author, Simon has recently released multiple industry and strategy perspectives including, ‘Utility of the Future – A customer led shift in the electricity sector’, ‘Real companies, real strategies, real growth in Australia’ and ‘Seven basic strategic missteps and how to avoid them’.
Simon holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Arts from the University of Melbourne with a Masters of Business Administration from the Melbourne Business School.
