The Commercial Strategic Designer Role:
The Commercial Strategic Designer is a crucial member of Growth & Business Design team and one that plays a broad role across all of our 3V methodology, from Visioning through the Venturing. As a linchpin within the team, you will be required to carry out key pieces of analysis to help validate the commercial viability of the idea you are building. This analysis could include market dynamics and competitive landscape reviews, market opportunity sizing using TAM, SAM, SOM methods, and or the commercial business case building to quantify the value and break even point of the idea or venture.
As the Commercial Strategic Director, you will also be required to support the Directors within the business to tell your story in a compelling way, building narratives and recommendations that help our clients make the right decisions. This will be key to your success within this role.
Conduct market landscape analysis through desktop research and drawing unique insights out of the information to frame the ‘So what?’
Identify macro market trends through desktop research and concisely articulating impacts on key strategies
Sizing commercial market opportunities of new strategies, propositions or businesses (TAM,SAM,SOM)
Conduct assumption gathering exercises through desktop research and client interviews to be used within economic models
Support the Directors in defining a potential operating model for a venture and quantify the costs of that organisation
Independently building the economic model, with some oversight from Directors, that accurately measures the value of a net new propositions or new ventures (e.g. NPV, IRR, DCF etc)
Build strong narratives to articulate commercial analysis and support Directors in recommending commercial pathways for our clients
5-7 years of professional experience, in corporate venture function, deal advisory or management consulting (a plus).
Experience leading the development of financial models
Experience carrying out market analysis and drawing key insights
Proven experience working in teams to produce best-in-class results
Experience working with creative roles in cross-functional teams (a plus)
Ability to present to and influence client-side stakeholders
Very strong interpersonal skills, and analytical skills
