As a Junior Cloud and Linux Engineer, you will work closely with senior team members to support, maintain, and improve cloud and infrastructure environments. This role is ideal for someone with foundational experience who is looking to build hands-on skills in Azure cloud services, Linux systems, and automation. You’ll be involved in day-to-day operational tasks, incident response, and contributing to automation and process improvement initiatives. 

Role and Responsibilities: 

Cloud Administration & Support 

  • Assist with deploying and managing Azure cloud services under the guidance of senior engineers. 

  • Support administration of Azure PaaS offerings such as App Services, Azure Functions, and Azure SQL. 

  • Help implement basic Azure security configurations and monitor compliance with best practices. 

  • Monitor cloud resources to ensure performance and cost-efficiency. 

  • Learn and assist in using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform and ARM templates. 

  • Participate in CI/CD workflows and source control processes for infrastructure deployment. 

Linux & Windows Administration 

  • Perform basic installation, configuration, and patching of Linux systems (e.g., Ubuntu, CentOS, RHEL). 

  • Support user account creation and permission management. 

  • Help implement and monitor standard security measures to protect system integrity. 

  • Monitor system logs and assist in identifying and resolving basic issues. 

  • Gain exposure to Windows-based admin tools like Active Directory, Group Policy, and PowerShell scripting. 

Virtualisation & Infrastructure Support 

  • Assist in managing virtual machines and environments using tools like VMware or Hyper-V. 

  • Troubleshoot basic infrastructure issues and escalate complex problems when needed. 

  • Respond to incidents and service requests, ensuring timely updates and clear communication. 

  • Document technical issues and resolutions accurately in ticketing systems. 

Monitoring & Reporting 

  • Use monitoring tools to support tracking of system and service health. 

  • Help generate basic reports for performance and capacity planning. 

  • Work collaboratively with teams to ensure reliable service delivery. 

  • Contribute to internal knowledge bases and documentation of best practices. 

Automation & Process Improvement 

  • Write and maintain basic scripts (e.g., Bash, Python, PowerShell) to automate routine tasks. 

  • Assist in automation efforts related to deployment and system configuration. 

  • Contribute ideas for improving existing processes and systems. 

Qualifications & Experience 

  • 1–2 years of hands-on experience in cloud or Linux system administration. 

  • Exposure to Microsoft Azure and familiarity with PaaS and IaaS services. 

  • Basic understanding of Linux operating systems and command-line tools. 

  • Familiarity with Windows system administration and tools like Active Directory or SCCM. 

  • Introductory scripting knowledge in Bash, Python, or PowerShell. 

  • Willingness to learn Infrastructure as Code concepts using tools like Terraform or ARM templates. 

  • Strong interest in cloud computing, system reliability, and automation. 

  • Good problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills. 

  • Enthusiasm for continuous learning and professional development. 


 Additional Requirements:
Security Clearance Requirement: Given the secure nature of this role, we are seeking candidates who are Australian Citizens with an active security clearance.

This requirement ensures that all team members are cleared to handle sensitive information and contribute to maintaining the highest standards of security in our operations.

On-call and Shift Expectations: Our positions are primarily focused on managed services, meaning you will be responsible for maintaining and improving our clients' IT systems (Applications and Infrastructure). Flexibility and adaptability are key, as you may be required to work in shifts to provide continuous support. Additionally, you may need to be on call to address incidents promptly and perform after-hours deployment activities as needed. Your ability to effectively manage these responsibilities will be crucial to ensuring the seamless operation of our services and client satisfaction
