This is a fulltime long term career position for the applicant that desires to lead and educate lesser skilled developers in the power and elegance of the PL/I programming language.
Role: Senior Application Developer (PL/I)
Role summary: Be the go-to expert in application development, debugging, tooling and design subjects for the IBM PL/I language in CICS and z/OS Batch environments.
Role and responsibilities:
The person performing this role is the SME for a small team of PL/I language developers in the CICS, Batch and Db2 environments of a financial services company. The role requires proven significant experience in designing, developing and supporting PL/I programs for mission critical 24 * 7 applications. The emphasis would be to enable and support the small team of developers in designing and debugging new and existing programs using modern thinking, modern ways of working and modern tooling. The role also includes support of Db2 for z/OS database stored procedures written in PL/I, and skilled knowledge transfer and mentoring to the team of experienced and new members.
Skills and experience required:
A career of at least 20 years in Information Technology in the IBM z/OS environment.
At least 15 years of application development in the PL/I language.
At least 10 years as a senior / lead PL/I developer.
At least 15 years working in the CICS environment with VSAM and Db2 data sources.
At least 10 years working with Db2 for z/OS database stored procedures.
