Outsourcing professionals work on projects across a range of business processes, business applications and information technology. They may provide technology services, such as application management, infrastructure management and systems integration, or they may deliver business process outsourcing services, including finance and accounting, procurement and human resources. Depending on the role, Outsourcing professionals may be based at a client’s office or in one of Accenture’s 50 delivery centers around the world.

 

The Position: 

Accenture is seeking a Procurement Practice Senior Manager with deep Mining Services sourcing and supplier management experience to help customers drive tangible results. This role will focus on growth and execution of a Procurement practice area. Work directly with customers with responsibility for delivering category management services including, but not limited to, strategic sourcing, client stakeholder management, supplier performance management, and continuous cost and performance improvement.

  • Develop, train and manage the team of Procurement Category team members.  Maximize resource utilization to ensure optimal productivity and margin contributing to contract P&L.
  • Participate in new business development, especially due diligence and solution design.
  • Maintain senior level client interaction and issue resolution.
  • Lead delivery of practice services including spend under management and savings achievement.
  • Demonstrates mastery in Mining categories
  • Strategic development and performance delivery of the category management function.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop Category Strategy
    • Lead senior stakeholder management across client portfolio
    • Develop practice SRM processes and supplier development specific to Mining categories
    • Develop and deploy category management delivery offering including innovation such as Accenture Insights
    • Collaborate with account management team and practice leadership for upsell and solution development
    • Identify market intelligence gaps/opportunities and ensure team develops market leading product offering
    • Ensure client transformation through leveraging best practices across the client portfolio
    • Review operational results and identify opportunities for process changes and additional spend savings
    • Define and build the category product offering (i.e. operating model, organizational design, best practices, sourcing and buying tools, strategic and tactical sourcing approaches, supplier management programs, demand management opportunities, key metrics and reports, compliance management programs, leveraged and pre-sourced supplier agreements and ‘go to market’ messages)
  • Manage Team
    • Maintain overall team chargeability in line with targets
    • Ensure project staffing meets both skill and cost requirements
    • Ensure team members receive necessary category training to remain relevant to clients
    • Provide mentorship to team members as they deliver on client work
    • Resolve issues escalated from either team members or stakeholders
  • Business Development
    • Oversee new opportunity due diligence to ensure appropriate savings targets are set
    • Review proposed solutions to ensure staffing and approach are adequate to meet savings targets.  Identify risks and mitigations to sales pursuit team.

Qualifications

In this role, you will have the opportunity to become a true value creator by:

  • Managing and maintaining collection of sourcing and category management benchmarks, case studies, and relevant data

  • Leading development and execution of continuous sourcing and category management process improvement

  • Leading development of new Category Management offerings 

  • This role’s salary range is AUD $220,000 - AUD$235,000

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • A minimum of 12 years of experience in consulting and/or sourcing/procurement/supply chain management function

  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in the field of Mining or Manufacturing related procurement 

Preferred Skills:

  • MBA preferred

  • Deep knowledge of multiple sub-categories including: Labour, Mining Services, Maintenance, Repair and Operations, Capital Equipment and Projects, Central Services and Processing.

  • Ability to effectively lead formal strategic sourcing efforts related to Mining sub-categories within the context of integrated Plan, Source, Make and Deliver supply chain processes.

  • Demonstrable expertise across multiple Mining categories and the ability to articulate strategic approaches to value generation in same.

  • Ability to interface with customers and suppliers via strong written and verbal communications skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Formal training and/or experience in strategic sourcing, lean supply chain management, and risk reduction methodologies (financial and operational).

  • Proficiency in the use of spreadsheet software (e.g. Microsoft Excel) and presentation software (i.e. Microsoft PowerPoint)

  • Client facing consulting experience with business development accountabilities desired

  • Ability to interface with customers and suppliers via strong written and verbal communications skills

  • Strong strategic influencing skills

  • Demonstrated ability to lead high performance teams and to develop people with a view toward meeting both the desires or the individual and the needs of the business

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage a wide range of suppliers

  • Well-developed, solution-oriented selling skills

  • Ability to drive transformational change

  • Excellent communication, organization/time management and problem solving skills

  • Solid multi-phase project management skills

  • Strong ability to effectively manage in a matrix organizational structure working with multiple internal clients

  • Ability to adapt to the varied corporate cultures and organizational structures of our customers

  • Exceptional track record of building relationships with stakeholders or customers that have resulted in high customer satisfaction

Travel:

  • Required up to 40%
