Job description
As the Big Data ETL developer you will be responsible for delivering business solutions utilising ETL tools and techniques to extract data from source systems, cleanse & transform data from disparate sources into a coherent and conformed set of data, and load data into various repositories and archives of the Big Data platform.
About you:
  • You are an experienced ETL developer with ability to work with business and technology teams.
  • Strong project delivery and implementation experience in large scale batch and streaming data ingestion, distributed processing, and experience working with Enterprise Data Lakes.
  • Strong experience in metadata driven data ingestion, Big data metadata management, governance and ETL development best practices.
  • Ability to quickly learn new tools and technologies.

Key Responsibilities:


As a Big Data ETL developer, you will be responsible for building data ingestion pipelines from heterogeneous data sources into Big Data platform, including:

  • Design and build complex ETL and data wrangling solution in and Agile environment using enterprise level ETL tools and custom applications.
  • Work in an agile environment in a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) setting
  • Working in highly client-facing role to connect and contribute throughout the end-to-end delivery lifecycle of complex and large-scale data ingestion development process.
  • Reverse engineer complex ETL processes and re-design them in a more efficient way.
  • Implement development best practices leveraging standard DevOps tools.
  • Proof of concept execution to prove the value of use cases.
  • Demonstrating success at working both independently and as a valued and inclusive team player.
  • Strong consulting capability with good communication, presentation and supportive business analysis skills.
  • The ability to work well with people across both the business and technology by building trust and sharing your enthusiasm and passion in this space.
  • Interstate travel may be required.
Professional Skill Requirements
  • Solid experience working in Analytics and DWH environment.
  • 3+ years of strong ETL experience with tools like Informatica, Talend, DataStage etc.
  • 2+ years of proven experience in designing high volume and fast big data ETL solutions that have been successfully implemented into a production environment, both batch and stream processing.
  • Clear understanding of Hadoop ecosystem with decent knowledge of data stores & processing engines like HBase, Hive, Kudu, Impala etc. (Cloudera experience is preferred)
  • Deep experience across systems integration, information management, data management and architecture, and business analytics.
  • Experience with large-scale, multi-release information centric projects.
  • Extensive delivery experience leveraging multiple delivery locations (onshore + nearshore/offshore).
  • Experience working in Agile projects with involvement in MVP definition, sprint planning, back-log grooming ad resolving blockers on technical solutions.
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree preferably in Computer Science/IT.
