Human Resources professionals develop and execute HR strategies, programs and services across one or more parts of the employee lifecycle to attract, develop and retain a highly engaged and differentiated workforce that enables the execution of human capital and business strategies.

 

Reporting to the HRBP for the assigned business group, the HR People Advisor provides HR advice to employees in Australia and New Zealand; responds to employee requests; and implements innovative solutions based on a thorough understanding of our business environment and priorities.

 

This role may be reassigned to support a different business group from time to time in order to meet the changing needs of the business.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

 

Professional Development and Performance

  • Assist with the implementation and coordination of key Human Resources processes (e.g. promotions, compensation, pay for performance and rewards administration)

  • Coordinate on-going performance feedback processes by providing regular guidance on delivering and receiving feedback, contributing to and reviewing formal input, discussing people issues, and supporting the implementation of performance improvement plans.

  • Take action to address compensation issues and real time promotions.

  • Support career counsellors and supervisors in career development activities, individual development plans, coaching, and advising/approving required and elective training appropriate for their development.

 

General HR

  • Work with HR Business Partner (HRBP) to monitor budgets including training spend and community spend

  • Undertake analysis on key performance indicators relating to people issues (e.g. retention, training hours)

  • In consultation with the business and HRBP, identify and monitor skill gaps, develop skill development plans and support identification of targeted programs

  • Work with the shared service centre and talent supply chain team to support the leave, internal transfer and termination processes by coordinating discussions, ensuring appropriate documentation, conducting/coordinating discussions including exit interviews, and elevating and/or addressing any resulting issues.

  • Provide support to community activities and initiatives for aligned business

  • Analyse and monitor engagement surveys and work with HRBP to affect change

  • Team with other HR People Advisors to share best practices and knowledge capital

  • Coordinate the integration of new joiners

     

 Employee Relations and Employee Transitions

  • Serve as an escalation point for people and employee relations issues and provide support and recommendations, as needed, to resolve people issues.

  • Recommend actions to management on a variety of matters including absence, poor performance, managed terminations, disciplinary and grievance matters and flexible working arrangements.

  • Educate employees on HR policy; monitor and take action around compliance with the company's policies.

Qualifications

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in HR or related discipline
  • Demonstrated experience working as an HR Generalist in a complex business
  • Strong proven experience working with Employee Relations matters
 
Professional Skill Requirements
 
  • Relevant HR generalist experience gained in large complex organisation(s) with multiple stakeholders (including matrix relationships)
     
  • Experience operating in a business partner model, working with business managers to create positive business outcomes;
     
  • Communicates with and influences a variety of stakeholders effectively. Is able to present sound and well-reasoned information;
     
  • Adapts and works effectively with a variety of situations, individuals or groups. Is able to understand and appreciate different and opposing perspectives on an issue and can adapt an approach as the requirements of a situation change.
