Our Business and Integration Architecture Senior Analyst, Kunal Daya, reveals what it’s like to be part of the Business Intelligence (BI) Analytics and Reporting team and what he does to unwind after work.

Could you tell us what’s a day in your role like?
As part of the BI Analytics and Reporting team, I create reports and insights which are used by our clients to gain insight into the data they collect. This allows our clients to make better and more informed decisions. Aside from BI, I have recently been expanding my knowledge in Oracle Fusion Applications Auditing and Security.

You moved from Perth to join the Adelaide office. Could you tell us more about the relocation? What made you decide to move?
I grew up in Zimbabwe before moving to Perth in 2013 to finish my Bachelors in Science. Shortly after graduating, an opportunity to work in the Business Intelligence space in Adelaide arose. It was easy for me to move to Adelaide because it's listed in the top ten most liveable cities in the world, which I was eager to experience. It also provides me with the opportunity to work with leading Cloud products and I see myself growing in a progressive company like Accenture.

What do you enjoy about living and working in Adelaide?
One of my favourite places in Adelaide is the Central Markets located in China Town. With markets being so conveniently located, you can catch the free tram or take a short 15-minute walk from the city. There is always a wide variety of fresh local produce and an assortment of imported products. Moreover, it’s the vibrant atmosphere and the freshly baked goods on Saturday mornings that make it one of my favourite spots.

In addition to the above, what I enjoy most about working in Adelaide is the caring culture and the family feel everyone brings. I have been fortunate enough to be part of this great team who have been tremendously supportive and where everyone comes together as one team when needed.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not at work?
I really enjoy watching soccer. I am a diehard Liverpool supporter—I watch their games during my weekends. I also watch a lot of cooking shows – I love cooking as I feel it is an opportunity to be creative, letting me wind down and take my mind off things. Apart from that, you probably will find me around the city or markets looking for good food spots and trying to make the most of my time off.

What are you truly passionate about?
I love learning about new technologies and tools that can help me resolve or build something in a new, creative or innovative way. I find that once I get a good grasp of what I am working on, it is the right time to learn something new. This keeps me on my toes, helping me challenge and develop myself continuously.

Besides learning, I am passionate about sports, particularly soccer and tennis. I may be travelling to England next year, where I am hoping to get the opportunity to watch one of their games live at Anfield! The atmosphere at live games is incredible and something I feel everyone should experience.

How do you manage your busy life? Any tips and tricks?
Usually, I start my mornings early by getting into the office around 7:30 a.m. This gives me time to sit, think and plan my day before it gets chaotic. Even though there might be changes, I believe doing these help me focus and prioritise what I need to achieve for the day.

Considering most of us spend roughly 40 hours a week at work, I feel it is important to try to build relationships at work. Having a good friend at work whom you can chat with can help alleviate stress, increase motivation and make work more enjoyable.

Lastly, work can get stressful, so I find taking a break where possible is invaluable. Whether it’s going out for lunch, taking a walk around the block or even just a quick five-minute break away from your desk can help clear your mind and help you re-focus.

During this leg of my journey in Adelaide, I have met some great people through work. With the expansion of our new office in Adelaide, I look forward to the new people who will join us and the exciting opportunities on the horizon. I truly believe our office can become the best workplace in Adelaide.

Thanks, Kunal! We wish you all the success and more enjoyable weekends in Adelaide.
