Tips for maximising your experience at Accenture TechQuest

If you’ve applied for one of our graduate roles and your background is best suited to a technology, infrastructure, security or software engineering role, then you’ll be invited to join us at Accenture TechQuest.
Accenture TechQuest is a two-day immersive assessment program for graduates suited to work in Accenture Technology, Accenture Security or Health and Public Service industries (in a more technical role). It’s part of our graduate recruitment process and is aimed at people who will be looking to commence their graduate role between September 2019 and August 2020.

How does the two-day program work?
TechQuest is designed to give graduates an insight into what a role at Accenture would look like.
Graduate attendees are given a real-world scenario to work on in a team environment. Throughout the two days, teams will work to come up with a solution to the scenario they have been provided and look to present their solution to a panel of judges. Individuals will also participate in one-on-one interviews with a leader of the business.
How to stand out at TechQuest
Each group has a mentor from within Accenture assessing them on their teamwork, leadership, problem solving ability and communication skills.
Some key techniques that will help you stand out during the two days.
Firstly, it's important to have an open mind. Working in a team where each person has their own opinion, it’s important to take on each individual's opinions and not be too focused on your own solution. Demonstrating this ability to work within a team environment, allowing and encouraging everyone to be involved in the conversation and showcasing how you would be adaptable is critical to success.
Also, be willing to trial new ideas and not be afraid to fail is another valuable characteristic. We don't expect everyone in TechQuest to come up with the most wonderful solution that will be implemented. Sometimes you have to fail a couple of times to determine what works and what doesn’t. Not everyone comes to TechQuest knowing how to code or is skilled in a particular technology, but putting your hand up to learn and showing a desire to learn from others shows initiative. Demonstrating your desire to develop your own skillset is important as the skills we're looking for are scarce and quite broad.
During the two-days there is a one-on-one interview with a leader from the business which is a great opportunity to ask questions and showcase your knowledge of Accenture.

How to prepare for TechQuest
The first two stages of the application process, the online application and phone interview, are really about showcasing your individual qualities, verbal communication skills, why you want to work for Accenture and where your passions lie.
Students who will end up attending TechQuest predominantly come from a STEAM background, science, technology, engineering, arts or mathematics. As well as those who have a passion for working in technology and who want to pursue a career in technology across all industry groups.
After TechQuest, attendees usually join the workplace a lot more prepared for the work they'll be undertaking. They are a lot more confident in their abilities and hit the ground running. It allows individuals to get a good idea of the work they'll be doing.
