Why no specific degree is necessary to be an Accenture Grad
By: Fiona Sparks

I was drawn to the Accenture graduate program after learning that you don’t have to have a specific degree or background to apply. I was completing a Bachelor of Laws/Bachelor of Commerce (Management) and wanted to find a global organisation that would give me the opportunity to pursue a variety of career paths.

I started as a graduate in 2014, and I’m now a Human Capital MC Analyst, working in the Sydney office.

When you start as a graduate, you get straight into client work and get put in a role. You really do “hit the ground running”. You immediately start working with a team in order to achieve outcomes for clients, and you start training. I was sent to Kuala Lumpur to attend MC core analyst school.

These daysI’m working on a large-scale training and accreditation project for a telecommunications client, and helping to ensure there is a sufficient / capable workforce available for the client to hit its performance targets. In this role, I liaise with legal/procurement and assist in negotiating contracts. I also assist in redesigning processes, have written business rules for the client and project managed the development of two online learning courses that will be completed by people around Australia.

An average day for me at Accenture is fast-paced and innovative, with lots of collaborating with hard-working people. Everyone’s high-achieving, driven and helpful. I’m constantly learning via direct experience with my team and clients, as well as through training provided by Accenture. The people, as well as the variety of work and opportunities available, make it a great office to come into every day. There really is a strong sense of camaraderie between the people that work here and it’s definitely a fun culture to be a part of.

Outside of the office, I find time for sport, particularly basketball which I still manage to play at a representative level.

I believe there are plenty of opportunities for graduates here, as long as you use your initiative and take the opportunities on offer. This is a hard-working office, the hours can be long on certain projects, but it’s always rewarding to achieve great outcomes for clients – especially when you get to do so as part of a great team!
