In February 2011, Accenture delivered a leading-edge technology solution for Mediaset that enabled the Italian commercial broadcaster to launch “Premium Play,” an innovative Over-the-Top-TV service that complements the company’s traditional linear TV premium channel offering.
To support the company’s market leadership, Mediaset and Accenture continue to collaborate on innovative, converged products and services for Premium Plus.
All the Premium Play initiatives contribute to providing richer and higher-quality “anywhere and anytime” services and to attracting new customers.
They also enrich the traditional TV consumption experience by bringing a new level of engagement typical of the online world—greater flexibility and more consumer choice.
When Mediaset decided to launch Premium Play, it needed to bring the product to market quickly to gain competitive advantage. To deploy this strategic program, the company selected Accenture as its end-to-end solution provider and systems integrator.
The pre-integrated assets and the industrialized development processes Accenture used enabled the development team to deliver the Premium Play service in record time—only seven months from project start to the initial piloting phase.
The team subsequently implemented the service, enabling Premium Plus content to be available for consumers on a wide array of digital devices.
The company continued to team with Accenture to develop ongoing innovations as part of a multi-year arrangement.
For its Premium Play service, Mediaset is leveraging Accenture Video Solution to deliver digital video over broadband. The service provides a seamless consumer experience integrating broadband and broadcast digital video on multiple devices.
Following the launch of Premium Play, Mediaset has extended its collaboration with Accenture to launch a number of innovative initiatives in a converged digital world. These included an Xbox 360 and iPad application, iPad “download & play” feature, enablement of Samsung Connected TV, and enhancement of advertising capabilities on different devices.
An Accenture Operations Team provides a fully-featured control room monitoring every aspect of on-demand delivery around the clock, seven days a week for Mediaset.
