Accenture helps China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) achieve high performance via enterprise resource planning.

Overview

Headquartered in Beijing, the China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) is among the three biggest state-owned oil giants and is China’s largest offshore oil and gas producer.

In 2005, with the aim of becoming a global oil and gas player, CNOOC chose Accenture to collaborate on the complete development, launch and post-implementation support of a major SAP R/3-based enterprise resource planning (ERP) system with a user base of 3,000 people.

Accenture’s team, which comprised (at peak periods) more than 100 professionals from China, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand, collaborated with CNOOC to harness the insight of oil, gas and petrochemical industry authorities, as well as systems integration, human resources, finance and logistics experts, and process innovation and ERP specialists.

In addition to developing and implementing the SAP R/3 system, Accenture is integrating CNOOC’s existing information technology systems, and helping to enhance the company’s human resource, finance and logistics capabilities.

To support CNOOC’s business goal of oil and gas industry leadership—via increased efficiency, reduced operational costs, and improved business performance, management control and transparency—Accenture completed two major rollouts, with the core engagement completed within 26 months.

Today, CNOOC is using its new SAP-based ERP system to streamline and improve operations, the marker of a new energy giant committed to realizing high performance on the global stage.
