Etienne Steyn obtained a bachelor of commerce honours (financial management) from the University of Potchefstroom and later his master of commerce (business management) from the University of Johannesburg. Prior to Accenture, he worked with other local and multinational consulting companies with his focus on the energy and utilities industry. Steyn worked alongside Accenture on several previous projects, before joining the company in 2006.
During his time with Accenture, Etienne has worked on several key SAP projects for clients in the public, financial services and mining sectors. For the past three years he has been involved in a global rollout of SAP for a major global mining house. The project aims to consolidate the entire company on a single SAP platform. He acts as the Southern African deployment lead.
Mining operations are typically located in remote areas, giving mining companies tremendous logistical challenges. They also face the reality of pricing in a volatile and competitive global economy. In addition, increasingly regulatory and environmental impacts are complicated by political instabilities in the search for new emerging markets. “Accenture offers its mining clients a broad range of tried-and-tested services in each of these areas, based on our global experience,” says Steyn. “We can really contribute to helping our clients develop additional value by creating opportunities for increased profitability.”
Steyn is married and in his spare time enjoys the great outdoors, including camping and fishing. He strives to maintain a work-life balance spending much time with family and friends.
