About the High Performance IT Research Program

In early 2005, Accenture launched an ongoing global strategic research initiative to discover how to raise performance of IT investment and productivity of IT management and delivery practices in large enterprises.

The research program was triggered by two divergent trends in global IT investment:

• Continuing high failure rates of major IT projects worldwide and the consequent reluctance of business leadership to invest in major IT projects and in innovative technology.

• A proven relationship between IT investment and economic productivity and a positive relationship between discretionary IT spend and business performance.

In its High Performance IT Research program, Accenture takes an integrated view of all IT planning, investment, management and delivery processes of the individual business or government organization. High Performance IT asserts that raising the organization’s capabilities across these IT processes will increase the overall performance and productivity of its IT investment.
