The Long View: Putting An Accent On the Future

Outlook Journal, January 2001

For more than 10 years everyone in our organization has devoted energy to change. We have worked to help our clients and business partners change to be more successful and change to create their future.

We have also "walked the talk" inside our own organization, reinventing ourselves time and again to remain relevant to the marketplace and to our partners in business. It is this continuous change journey that has brought us to our current and most ambitious challenge: to fundamentally reposition ourselves—to transform our organization from the world's largest management and technology consultancy into a growing network of businesses that will transcend the boundaries of traditional consulting.

Over the past year we have been developing and executing a new vision and strategy. And on January 1, 2001, we changed our name to Accenture. Our new name and identity proclaim what we are as an organization and what we want to become: a market maker, architect and builder of the new economy.

Today we are renamed, redefined and reborn. The Accenture name—which was, in fact, the suggestion of one of our own people—connotes putting an accent on the future. We believe it captures the essence of our commitment to helping companies bridge the gap between the traditional and new economies. Accenture is all about exceeding expectations as we provide market-ready solutions that will take companies to a successful future.

Accenture is building on our global consulting and outsourcing capabilities. We are expanding our sources of innovation and knowledge through our operating companies, alliances and investments in ventures that employ new technologies and business models. Indeed, the real strength of our organization is the synergy of these interrelated businesses, which unleash value for all of our clients and business partners. To put it simply, we are creating an organization that is greater than the sum of its parts.

Over the years we have built our business by helping organizations anticipate and respond to change. Now we are expanding our scope. Accenture's vision is to bring innovations that improve the way the world works and lives. This is a commitment to our clients, our business partners, our own people and others who share our communities.

It is my pleasure to share with you our premier issue of Outlook as Accenture. There has never been a more exciting time for us. It is the start of a new journey and a new adventure.
