National Museum of the American Indian—United States

Accenture is a proud supporter of the the first national museum dedicated to the preservation, study and exhibition of the life, languages, literature, history and arts of Native Americans, from a native viewpoint.

As part of its global corporate citizenship program, Accenture provides financial support to the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian and acts as a management consulting and information technology services advisor.

The Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian officially opened on September 21, 2004. It is located on the last available museum space on the National Mall, between the National Air and Space Museum and the US Capitol in Washington, DC. It is the first national museum dedicated to the preservation, study and exhibition of the life, languages, literature, history and arts of Native Americans, and the first national museum to present all exhibitions from a native viewpoint.

Approximately 7,000 objects from the museum's permanent collection are on view. Three major exhibitions are complemented by a contemporary art exhibit and landmark works of art—historic and contemporary—placed throughout the building. The Smithsonian projects the museum has had up to four million visitors annually.

"Accenture is pleased to be a sponsor of this important cultural landmark," said LaMae Allen deJongh, US Human Capital and Diversity, managing director. "The museum fills an important void in our history and as a company committed to diversity, we're proud to be associated with such a strong symbol of US history and contemporary society."

In addition to Accenture's financial support and its role as a management consulting and information technology services advisor to the museum, the company sponsors a scholarship program for American Indian students. The program is composed of the following programs:

Accenture Scholars—Three undergraduate scholarships of $20,000 each (each award at $5,000 per year for four years) will be awarded to students pursuing a four-year degree.
Accenture Fellows—Two graduate scholarships of $15,000 each (each award at $7,500 per year for two years) will be awarded to students pursuing a master’s or doctorate degree.
Finalist Scholarships—Two undergraduate scholarships of $8,000 each (each award at $2,000 per year for four years) and two graduate scholarships of $5,000 each (each award at $2,500 per year for two years).
