As director of Accenture's Technology Vision, Kurth is responsible for analyzing new and innovative technologies, defining a vision for the future of IT, and then helping Accenture and its clients turn that vision into reality. Each year, the technology vision team at Accenture Technology Labs sets out to determine the emerging IT developments that will have the greatest impact on enterprises, government agencies, and other organizations in the next five years. The vision team looks beyond the technology themes that are already driving change—themes as current as mobility, big data, and cloud computing—and concentrates on the topics that will soon start to appear on the agendas of most CIOs.
The Accenture Technology Vision is designed to help our clients identify these changes, make sense of the disruptions, and, most importantly, to start taking action that capitalizes on these new opportunities. At the same time, the technology vision is used internally to guide Accenture's reserac and development agenda and overall investments in emerging technologies.
Kurth has over 15 years experience working with emerging technologies and their impact on business. Prior to his current role, he was a senior researcher in Accenture Technology Labs, focusing on a variety of diverse areas. Kurth has led projects and research groups focused on areas such as enterprise data management, process analytics, smart grid, service oriented architectures, software lifecycle support, and knowledge management. He has authored points of view and advised clients on topics such as software-as-a-service, model driven development, and service oriented architectures. He currently holds nine patents for his work with Accenture.
Kurth earned a B.S. in mechanical engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a M.S. in mechanical engineering from Purdue University, where he specialized in modeling and analytics applied to acoustics and active noise and vibration control.
Outside of work he can often be found underwater, occupying his spare time as a scuba instructor, diving locally and all around the world.
