Accenture has formed an Advisory Board for its US Federal Business. Nationally recognized experts, and leaders with decades of experience across the US federal government, will provide Accenture Federal Services with fresh perspectives on the federal market, industry trends and business strategies. The group will serve in an internal advisory capacity and will meet quarterly.

General James Cartwright, United States Marine Corps, ret., served as commander, US Strategic Command, before being appointed as the eighth vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the nation’s second-highest military officer.
During his four years as vice chairman, across two presidential administrations and constant military operations, Gen. Cartwright became widely recognized for his keen ability to integrate systems, organizations and people in ways that encouraged creativity and sparked innovation in strategic deterrence, the limiting of nuclear proliferation, missile defense, cyber security and adaptive acquisition processes. |
He was named Outstanding Carrier Aviator of the Year in 1983 by the Association of Naval Aviation and went on to command Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 12, Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 232, Marine Aircraft Group 31 and the 1st Marine Aircraft Wing.

As secretary of the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) from 2005 to 2009, Michael Chertoff led the US effort to block would-be terrorists from crossing US borders. Following Hurricane Katrina, he led efforts to transform the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) into an effective organization.
Before leading DHS, Secretary Chertoff served as a federal judge on the US Court of Appeals. He also was a federal prosecutor, investigating and prosecuting cases of political corruption, organized crime, corporate fraud and terrorism —including the investigation of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. |
As founder of the Chertoff Group, Secretary Chertoff provides high-level strategic counsel to corporate and government leaders on a broad range of security issues, from risk identification and prevention to preparedness, response and recovery.

Former US Sen. Tom Daschle is one of the longest-serving Senate Democratic leaders in history and the only one to have served as both majority and minority leader. During his tenure, Sen. Daschle navigated the Senate through some of its most historic economic and national security challenges. Today, he is a senior policy advisor to the law firm of DLA Piper, where he provides strategic advice on public policy issues.
Sen. Daschle is a co-founding member of the Bipartisan Policy Center. He serves on the board of the Center for American Progress, is the vice chair of the National Democratic Institute and is a member of the Council of Foreign Relations. He is a member of the Health Policy and Management Executive Council at the Harvard School of Public Health and the Global Policy Advisory Council for the Health Worker Migration Initiative. |

William J. Lynn III is the CEO of DRS Technologies. Lynn served as the 30th US Deputy Secretary of Defense from 2009 to 2011. As the chief operating officer for the Department of Defense (DoD), he managed an organization of three million people with an annual budget of $700 billion. He also personally led efforts in cyber security, space strategy and energy policy.
Prior to that, as senior vice president at the Raytheon Co., Mr. Lynn directed strategic planning and government relations. From 1993 to 2001, he served first as the director of Program Analysis & Evaluation and then as the chief financial officer of the Pentagon. |
Before joining DoD, he served for six years on the staff of Senator Edward Kennedy, overseeing the senator’s work on the Senate Armed Services Committee. Earlier he held positions at the Institute for Defense Analyses, National Defense University and the Center for Strategic and International Studies.

Mary E. Peters

Mary E. Peters is the principal of Mary Peters Consulting Group LLC, an organization dedicated to finding new and better ways to finance and build American infrastructure. Ms. Peters served as U.S. Secretary of Transportation from 2006 to 2009, leading efforts to improve transportation safety and the performance of the nation’s transportation system, and develop new policy and funding sources to support America’s transportation system into the 21st century.
Previously, she was senior vice president and national director for transportation policy and consulting for HDR Inc., an engineering company, where she is a member of the board. From 2001 to 2005, Ms. Peters was the Federal Highway Administrator for the US Department of Transportation, overseeing the federal-aid and federal lands highway programs, including the interstate and national highway systems. |
Ms. Peters was the Arizona Department of Transportation director prior to becoming Federal Highway Administrator. She currently serves on the board of trustees of Rand Corp. and was appointed to the Arizona Commerce Authority by Gov. Jan Brewer.
