Accenture executives joined business and political leaders April 16-18 in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico to discuss the theme of Regional Transformation in a New Global Context. The meeting agenda focused on the topics of development and financial resilience, food security, employment and green growth. Mark Spelman, Managing Director, Strategy, participated in a panel session Energy: New Realities, New Models examining how Latin America can effectively develop its energy system in response to diverse resources and new technological and economic realities.
Accenture also participated in the second Sustainable Growth Summit that ran on the first day of the meeting and included the participation of the energy ministers of Latin America. Bruno Berthon, Managing Director, Sustainability Services, presented at The Financing Green Growth session which leveraged Accenture’s collaboration with the Forum’s Green Growth Partnership Initiative and brought together over 35 participants from the development and private finance community, alongside regional policy makers and international business leaders. Participants identified how investment into green infrastructure can be increased across the region to provide an essential platform for long-term growth. Mark Spelman moderated the New Energy Architecture in Latin America session at the Summit. The session brought together over 40 participants to explore the implications of the region’s shifting energy balance and discuss the flexible policy framework needed to respond to the needs of Latin America’s new energy systems.
