The Accenture booth featured our latest smart grid, transmission and distribution asset management, and work, field and resource management offerings:
- The Asset Analytics demonstration addressed the ingredients needed to optimize T&D system planning using a risk-based approach to asset management.
- The Accenture Multi-resolution Asset Data Exchange (MADX) gave utilities a 360 degree view of their existing assets – a view that leverages both GIS and EAM data to improve asset decision-making.

Utility Analytics Institute Summit

150 utility analytics professionals attended the inaugural Utility Analytics Institute Summit, which was the utility industry’s first event dedicated to analytics. Accenture Senior Executive Paul Yarka led a panel discussion on the topic “Analytics 2020” focused on what’s in store for the future of analytics. During this session, a panel of experts provided insights to help utility analytics professionals make better decisions about how to invest in technology, which business processes will lead the way to the future, and what your organization should be doing to get maximum value from the data-to-analytics value chain.

Customer Service Week

2011 marks the 35th year as an annual education conference. Recognizing the growing need for education, CS Week focused solely on the needs of the meter-to-cash segment of electric, gas and water/wastewater utilities. The courses, forums, groups and colleges followed the customer experience lifecycle from billing and customer contact centers to AMI, MDM and the intelligent infrastructure/grid. Accenture’s Michelle Pierce spoke on “Trends in Application Support”.
Smart Metering Central & Eastern Europe

Smart Metering Central & Eastern Europe brought together over 150 industry leaders to discuss the key issues facing the smart metering industry in the CEE region. Alfonso Bocchetti, Senior Manager, Accenture Smart Grid Solutions practice presented on the first day “Unleashing AMI benefits since the preliminary phases while consistently building a ‘rollout-driven’ pilot”

XI Annual Workshop - Observatory on Alliances and Strategies in the Pan – European Utilities Market
February 17, Milan, Italy
During the conference, Accenture and Agici illustrated the results of a study titled: “Italian and European Utilities: comparisons on post M&A governance models: how to optimize/balance control and integration”. The study assessed how European utilities can maximize all the potential benefits from their M&A activities against complexity factors, with a focus on four key business functions: procurement, human resources, plant operations and fleet management and capital investment programs. Results from the research show that generally more control and integration seem to yield better performance. Utilities must also account for their unique situation and strategy as well as the market environment. Massimo Pagella, Claudio Arcudi and Pierfederico Pelotti spoke during the conference.
