E-Commerce and Parcels-Opportunities to be a Major Part of this Growing Market
E-Commerce: A New Frontier in Postal Transformation
As mail volumes continue their downward spiral, a new stream of revenue is changing the frontiers of postal transformation. E-commerce, with its accelerating parcel volumes, has the potential to promise greater revenue growth than mail in its heyday. Competition is fierce; postal players are up against small, domestic competitors and non-traditional players such e-tailers and retailers, all fighting for market share of the lucrative parcels opportunity. Accenture research, based on surveys of 13,000 consumers in 12 countries, warns postal organizations to keep pace or risk missing out one of the industry’s strongest growth platforms and losing significant shareholder value.
