June 4–6th, Colorado Springs
Accenture sponsored a business briefing, where delegates were invited to participate in an interactive panel discussion on Manufacturing’s “Not So Secret” Shift. Chemical company senior executives and Accenture participated in a spirited discussion about the resurgence of manufacturing in America and its impact on the chemical industry. Client panelists shared their perspectives on myths and movement in manufacturing, with interactive audience participation.

ACHEMA is the world forum of the process industry and the trend-setting technology summit for chemical engineering, environmental protection and biotechnology. Accenture partnered with Microsoft at their booth to demonstrate our clients application of Microsoft’s Dynamic CRM tools.

ChemCon Europe
March 6-9th, Madrid
ChemCon Europe brought together more than 300 experts in chemical control legislation and trade for a five day conference and exhibition.
Accenture featured during the following sessions:
- Andre Donha presented ‘Chemical control legislation in Brazil’
- David Nelissen presented ‘Cost effective and business evaluation of a global GHS strategy’
- David also chaired the session ’Chemical control legislation in Korea and Taiwan’
In the exhibition Accenture showcased two of our APAS (Accenture Plant and Automation Solutions) solutions: the Accenture Life Safety Solution (ALSS) and the IUCLID –SAP connector tool developed by Accenture.

Accenture Life Safety Solution (ALSS)
ALSS is a wireless solution which continuously monitors an individual’s location and exposure to gas while in the plant through a single multi-gas detector.

IUCLID-SAP
The IUCLID-SAP connector tool allows the transfer of substance-specific information between IUCLID 5 and SAP, avoiding any manual entry and maintaining consistency between both systems.

ChemITC Conference
November 7-9, Chicago, US
The Accenture run event bought the leaders in the chemical industry from across North America. There were presentations on:
- “Evolving business models and BI support of them”
- “Trends in IT with an impact with Infrastructure and Resources”
- “Running IT like a Business”
- “Trends/ Future Impact on the Business”
There was also a ‘Day in the life of a chemical company scenario’ at the Chicago Innovation Center featuring enhanced solutions from SAP, including in-memory, mobility and analytics.

GPCA Forum
December 13-15, Dubai
The GPCA is the Gulf’s association for the petrochemicals and chemicals industry. The annual forum focussed on ‘moving downstream – creating added value and sustainable growth’. Accenture hosted a meeting room at the forum to meet with our clients.

FEICA European Adhesives & Sealants Annual Conference

In its 29th year, the FEICA annual conference brings together multinational and SME formulators and raw material suppliers in the A&S industry. Accenture’s Goetz Erhardt took part in the ‘Regaining the profit’ panel on the Friday, discussing ‘The call to become customer smart.’

The 2010 Accenture Customer Preferences Study for Chemicals with more than 1,200 respondents showed that chemical companies lose a significant amount of value in certain areas by not optimizing the approach they take toward their customers. In this webinar featuring Accenture and Avanade on the CRM for Chemicals solution, we discussed specific actions that chemical companies can take to get smarter in the way they manage their customer relationships. Accenture’s Goetz Erhardt was one of the presenters.
