The Business Partnership program was pioneered with VSO by Accenture and the resources company Shell in 1999 to meet an increase in demand for management professionals to help local communities in the developing world. Since the program started, over 100 employees from Accenture in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Italy, Germany and many more locations have taken up placements overseas.
Accenture people use their business skills to make tangible contributions in challenging environments. In doing so, volunteers acquire new skills and find their experience both personally and professionally rewarding. Accenture VBP volunteers receive financial support from Accenture to make this opportunity viable and help cover fixed costs at home.
Accenture offices in 16 countries already participate in the VSO Business Partnership program: Australia, Austria, Canada, Denmark, Germany, Finland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Norway, Philippines, Sweden, Switzerland, the Netherlands, United Kingdom and the United States.
