Australia-based Telstra has evolved from a traditional telecommunications company into a full-service media, advertising and communications provider.
The company is meeting growing customer demand for speed, content and delivery by focusing on network, service and operational transformation, and replacing legacy networks and systems with IP-based infrastructure capable of running advanced multimedia applications.
Telstra wanted to save costs, while providing a faster, more reliable cable broadband service, enhanced for the next generation of broadband services. Telstra turned to Accenture to help it implement next-generation capabilities on its national hybrid fiber-coaxial (HFC) network, to grow its cable broadband business.

Broadband services are increasingly becoming a commodity that consumers want more of, for less. Broadband penetration and speed continue to be strong areas of focus for consumers and businesses across Australia. The challenge for Telstra was to reduce cost, while providing a faster, more reliable cable broadband service enhanced for the next generation of broadband services.
Telstra’s other objective was to extend its leadership position in the market by providing one of Australia’s fastest consumer cable broadband services. To accomplish this and to increase its cable broadband business, Telstra called on Accenture to implement next-generation capabilities on its national HFC network.
