Post Danmark is the national postal service in Denmark with approximately 27,000 employees and annual revenue of DKK 11 billion.
In 1995, Post Danmark’s monopoly was broken, and in 2002, Post Danmark became a stock-based company, owned 100 percent by the Danish state. In 2005, CVC Capital Partners bought 22 percent of the shares and the employees bought 3 percent of the shares in Post Danmark. In October 2005, Post Danmark and CVC Capital Partners became a minority shareholder in the Belgian Post, DePost-LaPoste.
Accenture helped by facilitating the implementation of SAP HR at Post Danmark with the overall goal of the transformation program to replace 60 percent of the old systems with an SAP system.
The overall vision of Post Danmark is to deliver Europe’s best postal service determined by a combination of customer service level, quality and price. From this perspective, the SAP HR solution was part of a large transformation program to examine core aspects of Post Danmark’s business.
The goal of this transformation, which was named Lean Enterprise, was to develop standardized and integrated business processes, enabled by state-of-the-art technology that integrates employees, business processes and technology while enhancing customer value. The reason for choosing SAP as the enterprise resource planning system was to minimize the number of independent and self-developed IT-systems, which was necessary for Post Danmark to face future market challenges.
The overall goal of the Lean Enterprise transformation program was to replace 60 percent of the old systems with the SAP system. The AcceleratedSAP standard implementation approach was used for the Lean Enterprise program at Post Danmark.
