Business Challenge

A products organization came to Accenture with two defined opportunities in their mobile deployments:

Disparate Mobile Applications—The client had developed several mobile application prototypes with a number of niche vendors and was looking to define a global mobility strategy and approach.
Segmented Mobile Strategy—The client had several business units running individual mobile activities and was looking to centralize the operating model and platform for mobility across the company.

How We Helped

Accenture consulted with staff, partners and customers to determine the needs of the corporation, the individual business units and the end-users of the different mobile application deployments.

The subsequent development process included:

Indentifying a global mobility strategy and approach to determine the most valuable uses of mobile technology in the enterprise and B2B channels.
Developing a mobile strategy and road map for the client’s Corporate IT to provide direction for mobile services and benefits to the client business units.
Conducting assessments and user interviews to understand the current mobile environment and also conducted relevant industry research.

High Performance Delivered

Accenture developed a mobile strategy that:

Provided mobile technology and process framework assessment and recommendations. This documentation included topics of security, application and technical architecture, multi-platform development, development processes, enterprise application and device management, and mobile tools and vendors.
Provided recommendations on governance and organizational structure for mobility at the client, including mobile industrialization, scope and alignment across business units, and a centralized ownership for mobility.

Accenture continues to work with corporate IT to identify other mobile services to provide including: Mobile Managed Services for standardization and security; mobile platform managed service; mobile device and application management service; and mobile application development.
