Accenture is working with a leading global pharmaceutical company to implement and develop a wellness program.
A leading global pharmaceutical company is introducing a diabetes wellness program for its U.S. employees. Accenture is collaborating with a healthcare provider and another third-party to design the program and will lead the development and implementation.
As a self-insured employer, the client absorbs a major part of the direct medical costs related to the treatment of diabetes and is significantly impacted by the indirect costs. As well as fostering a better work environment for the client’s employees, the wellness program will help significantly reduce direct healthcare costs: Within the first year, the program has estimated cost savings of $918 per enrolled participant.
Following the program, Accenture will lead a study to assess the effectiveness of the program in improving health outcomes and in increasing adherence to diabetes treatment regimes.
