This global energy company is a leading, diversified oil and gas company based in the Americas.
It has grown quickly through mergers and acquisitions, and its 2010 revenues were in several billion dollars. When the company needed to improve its planning capabilities, it turned to Accenture.
This company aims to grow its business significantly in the next three to five years. In order to prepare for this growth, the company needed to improve its planning capabilities fundamentally by enhancing both the operational and strategic planning processes.
As a result of its strong acquisition-led growth, the client was faced with the challenge of integrating a diverse business portfolio and complex organizational structures. Its first step was to implement core SAP enterprise resource planning globally, with Accenture as an implementer.
A complementary project, Planning Process Improvement, picked up where the SAP program left off as regards the planning process.
To help reduce implementation risk, Accenture Enterprise Performance Services tailored its standard tools such as the Enterprise Performance Management Framework Methods, and Leading Practices to the client’s business, and also leveraged the services of Accenture’s global subject-matter specialists.
The team delivered recommendations for quick wins within the first 45 days of the project to help build pace and momentum, while developing a phased implementation approach that is integrated with the SAP rollout.
With Accenture’s help, this company has developed a planning vision and blueprint to transform its planning and performance management capability. Once implemented, the blueprint will assist in enabling an efficient, scalable process that provides the company with faster, more accurate planning information which facilitates agility, manages volatility and enhances decision-making.
