Accenture helped a large, German telecommunications company develop an efficient operating model for on-demand analytics services.
The client, with affiliates in various countries, was facing an increasing demand for analytics services internally. The company collaborated with Accenture to leverage Business Analytics as a Service (BaaS), which delivered value much faster considering the time taken to develop advanced in-house analytics capabilities.
The telecommunications industry has long applied analytics to gain valuable consumer insights and identify cross-selling and upselling opportunities. Companies are now pursuing sophisticated analytics for enterprise side of the business. Rising demand, however, can overwhelm the already overextended in-house analytics resources.
The German telecommunications company wanted to create a central function to support its internal analytics needs. This, however, would have required substantial capital investment and depended on the ability to attract the right analytics talent.
We proposed the BaaS solution that could be set up and customized faster than developing internal capabilities. Analytics expertise and resources could be provided on demand, thereby reducing the risks associated with a large internal expansion.
We created a hosted analytics environment based on the SAS software. This system stores, transforms and analyzes client data, and generates business intelligence reports through a portal we designed for the client.
Additionally, the delivery model enables the client to apply analytics economically to its small- and medium-sized business segments.
We helped the German telecommunications company realize many benefits.
Target customers in all enterprise segments with greater effectiveness and efficiency by using BaaS.
Increase efficiency, with the projected gains in efficiency expected to range between 200 percent and 400 percent.
Enable the client to apply predictive techniques to its business segments through the BaaS model, and identify opportunities for pursuing high performance.
