A European mobile operator teamed with Accenture to develop a real-time convergent billing solution that would support both prepaid and postpaid customers.
With the deployment of its network the company sought a convergent billing system that would enable it to be highly flexible in its product and service offerings, and thus, differentiate itself from the competition.
Accenture collaborated with the mobile operator to tailor the global corporate billing solution to local subsidiaries’ product and service requirements and put the system into operation. Since the system went live, Accenture has continued to deliver innovative and advanced billing capabilities to support the launch of new services as well as billing and customer care processes.

This European mobile operator was entering an already highly competitive national mobile phone market. With the launch of its mobile phone services, the company needed a charging and billing system that would support both prepaid and postpaid customers, as well as track and bill all types of services and content offered through its network. The billing system had to support real-time convergent rating and charging. Additionally, the new convergent billing system had to enable the company to be highly flexible in its product and service offerings and accurately bill for those services.
Executives recognized the company needed outside help with this project. In particular, they sought a consulting provider that not only had deep expertise in CSGi's SingleView customer care, charging and billing system but also had substantial experience in the telecom industry and billing processes.
Accenture collaborated with the carrier to develop and activate the billing system. Our work involved the entire spectrum of systems development. Accenture also assisted in testing the company’s services in a production-like environment to confirm the system met the company’s business needs and customer expectations. Since the system went live, Accenture has delivered innovative and advanced billing capabilities to support the launch of new services.
Over the years Accenture has provided the company with specific tools to monitor business and performance KPIs, thereby, allowing the improvement of rating and billing processes and helping in the market growth.
One of the major achievements of the project was the ability to handle real-time convergence of both prepaid and postpaid customers for all type of services through unified service delivery and charging process flows. The company considers the convergent billing system a major tool for both attracting new customers and retaining the existing ones.
The billing system Accenture helped develop has contributed to the company’s service launch, assisting the company to quickly become one of the most profitable mobile phone operators in the country.
