Accenture’s technology architects apply innovative approaches with both emerging and proven technologies, aligning business strategy and IT to create solutions that are cost effective to implement and relevant to our clients’ needs.
Accenture’s Master Technology Architect certification is an internal program to build and recognize highly-skilled, professional technology architects. It ensures that all of our technology architects possess and apply the most relevant technology and architecture skills needed to effectively design and deliver solutions that drive high performance through IT.
The program provides training, continuous evaluation and IT certifications that enable Accenture to develop and maintain architects with market relevant technology and architecture skills. It is a progressive program with three levels of mastery: Technology Architect, Senior Technology Architect and Master Technology Architect. Each level has its own requirements around experience, proven skills and training. The mastery levels focus on an architect’s skills, both broad and deep, as well as their achievements in innovation and thought leadership. This program spans a broad spectrum of skill sets needed throughout the systems integration project lifecycle—from design and architecture to industrialized solution shaping and delivery.
Certification is based on an individual’s skills and experience across a comprehensive set of areas of architecture including:
- Infrastructure Architecture
- Technical Architecture
- Application Architecture
- Application Design
Architects must demonstrate breadth across platforms and applications styles and also must demonstrate expertise in methodology, estimating and project management—the ability to deliver an architecture being as important as being able to shape and design it. This breadth of skill and experience is set out in a skills and experience framework against which architects assess themselves. These assessments are then confirmed in detail through interviews with certified Accenture architects around the globe.
Three Levels of Mastery:
Technology Architect—With several years of experience and a track record across a subset of disciplines on one or more platforms, technology architects demonstrate important base skills, possess expertise in foundational architectural concepts, and are able to design and deliver single areas of an architecture. In addition, they typically have technical skills in two or more programming languages.
Senior Technology Architect—With a growing breadth of skills on more than one platform, Senior Technology Architects shape solutions involving multiple components, decide between options, and balance requirements against costs of development and operation. At this level, an architect will have designed and delivered on at least one large and/or innovative project and can ensure that an architecture supports the business requirements. These individuals are starting to be looked upon to share their ideas and approaches with the broader architecture community of practice.
Master Technology Architect—Our most experienced and skilled architects are certified as Master Technology Architects. They typically have a great deal of experience in being responsible from start to finish for overseeing and executing all the technology architecture components of a solution. They demonstrate the ability in architecture innovation and thought leadership, creating and advocating valued points of view and architectural leadership for clients and Accenture. Master Technology Architects are sought-out as thought leaders to help drive innovation internally and to speak at external industry forums, for quality reviews and have a key role in client discussions early on in the solution design.
