Digital Pen and Paper is one of several projects that researchers and developers at Accenture Technology Labs are working on in the area of User Experience and Human-Computer Interaction.
Organizations that rely heavily on paper forms—for record-keeping, work orders or applications—have not been able to take full advantage of the digital world…until now. Accenture Technology Labs believes that new digital pen and paper technology will change this and enable businesses to improve performance through cost savings and efficiency gains.
Early access to the technology has enabled the Labs to explore applications in both the public and private sectors that can enhance performance and drive efficiencies and cost savings into existing paper-based processes. We believe this low-cost, easy-to-use solution can unlock myriad possibilities in areas such as:
- Faster form processing—Eliminate the need to key in data by transmitting written information electronically to a central database where people can access and process it.
- Automatic backup—Create an instant digital record in addition to the paper trail.
- Security—Information captured by the digital pen and paper is time-stamped and identified with a particular pen, making it easy to determine who filled in which part of a form and when.
