Silicon Valley venture capitalists (VCs) are increasingly focused on investments in California. Corporate IT executives in other regions should take action to reverse this trend and spur innovation in their own communities.
IT leaders understand the value to their company of tapping into vibrant startup communities. But, instead of moving their companies to Silicon Valley, executives should question how they can encourage venture capitalists to come to their region. By nurturing an innovative ecosystem locally, IT execs and startups both benefit.
Chris DiGiorgio, executive research fellow for the Accenture Institute for High Performance, outlines six steps that corporate IT executives, along with local government and business leaders, can take to attract Silicon Valley venture capitalists. Jeanne Harris, managing director of information technology research at the Institute, contributed to the article.
