Accenture research shows that public transit authorities and operators can go beyond their traditional outcomes by maximizing the demand for public transportation solutions.
Transport providers in all the cities we surveyed in our study, “High performance in public transport: How authorities and operators can go beyond their traditional outcomes,” are working toward:
Establishing real-time mobile and direct communication to enable better interaction with customers. For example, Singapore’s Land Transport Authority has an application called MyTransport Singapore that provides information on the available entertainment options and nearby conveniences (such as gas stations and ATMs). This helps travelers plan and experience a seamless and enjoyable journey.
Collecting and analyzing data to drive further demand and customizing their offerings accordingly. For example, in Seoul, South Korea, transport providers offer rechargeable smart cards—such as T-money and Upass—that can be used to pay for bus, subway and taxi fares, and at stores in and around the city.
