Part of the missing middle is the need not only to collect and analyze data, but also to enable workers to act on insights.
Analytics should not be intended primarily for a data officer and his or her corporate team. Fewer than half of respondents to Accenture’s survey confirmed that becoming more analytical in decision-making styles and methods across the enterprise was a long-term goal. Indeed, only 29 percent of middle managers get all of the training needed to use analytics effectively in day-to-day decision making.
