In this podcast, Steve Culp, managing director-Risk Management at Accenture, talks about his recent article “Rethinking Risk in Financial Institutions—Making the CFO-CRO Partnership Work.” Culp argues that the permanent volatility characterizing the global business environment, along with the pace of technology change and increasing regulation, has created a “perfect storm” of increased risk.
The financial services industry is particularly affected, and this is prompting closer collaboration between the chief financial officer (CFO) and chief risk officer (CRO). Culp says that the risk management and finance functions are integrating, and now play a key role in defining and driving business strategy. He outlines six recommendations to help these two functions work together more effectively.
