In this podcast, Accenture’s Michael Nieves, co-author of the lynchpin volume Service Strategy, talks to CXO Media’s Jim Malone about the new book and what it means. Nieves argues that IT managers have for too long relied on on-the-job training, something inappropriate for the increasingly professionalized discipline—often seen as a vital contributor to the organization’s ability to compete successfully. Service Strategy aims to set that right, providing IT managers with the blueprint for truly transforming their mindsets, for seeing beyond operational efficiency to the concept of IT as a service that delivers value. This, Nieves says is one ITIL’s “deceptively simple breakthroughs,” and it holds the key to the realization of IT’s potential.
