In naming Accenture as a leader in providing oil and gas professional services, IDC Energy Insights wrote: "Accenture provides a full range of professional services to O&G. Business and IT consulting are strong offerings for O&G with an emphasis on business. Accenture currently offers a business model, which is in line with the latest trends of the O&G sector. The company is also on the right track in positing that analytics and mobility are the future trends with the greatest applicability in O&G going forward. The professional services firm is running its activities in the O&G industry with a global delivery model, backed up with 26 dedicated energy groups based in most of the O&G centers of the world— Perth, Houston, Calgary, and Aberdeen. Moreover, Accenture leverages its presence in India, China, Europe, and the United States (global delivery network) to provide system integration, IT consulting, and IT outsourcing at lower costs for its clients. The company also gets high marks from customers on its ability to leverage O&G business knowledge on a global basis.”
IDC Energy Insights specifically noted three areas of strength for Accenture: an advanced industry-oriented R&D capability, efforts to hire employees with serious O&G background, and a solid strategy of alliances.
IDC also published a separate MarketScape for Business Analytics IT Consulting and Systems Integration Services, in which Accenture was also ranked as a market leader.
