Accenture stands out in HfS Blueprint Report on SAP.
A new report by HfS Research ranks Accenture as the overall market leader for SAP services globally, describing it as “the right partner for clients looking for one-stop shopping solutions and the full scope of services and hosting.”
The HfS Blueprint Report for SAP Services places Accenture in the very upper echelons of its “Winner’s Circle”, and draws particular attention to the organization’s know-how in the execution of SAP services and the depth of its relationship with SAP, which spans more than 30 years.
The Report also identifies Accenture’s strength in consulting, hosting and innovative areas such as HANA, big data, mobility and cloud as a key differentiator between it and the competition.
The SAP Services HfS Blueprint Report identifies relevant differentials between service providers across numerous facets in two main categories: innovation and execution. Execution measures a provider’s ability to deliver services, while innovation measures its ability to improve upon them.
The report’s ratings are based on a broad range of stakeholders, with specific weightings derived from 1,355 crowd-sourced responses. These stakeholders include:
The report highlights five key findings for SAP services in 2013-14:
SAP consolidation: Many clients told HfS they are investing in the traditional way of trying to contain SAP costs—through consolidation—in 2013 and 2014. This approach is seen as prudent, because many of the cloud-based SAP options are still in their infancy.
SAP upgrades: With innovation speed accelerating, clients find it hard to keep pace. Consequently, for 2013 and 2014, there are many SAP upgrade projects in the funnel.
SAP in the cloud: Although still confusing for many, clients very much appreciate the stronger focus that SAP is putting on the cloud.
Business analytics, big data and in-memory (HANA): More tangible than the cloud, analytics and big data are the new hot things. HfS Research believes that this is an interesting and unique case where the desires of business decision makers (mainly faster reaction times) and those of IT departments (new in-memory technology) conspire in a positive way.
SAP for mobile apps: Many new developments will be made on mobile platforms, tablets, mobile phones, and others. Since there is no standard operating system, companies will have to support a variety of different operating systems and vendors, and SAP is investing heavily in this space.
HfS Research concludes that Accenture’s market-leading position in the provision of global SAP services can be attributed to its very high market share and customer satisfaction, its deep knowledge and expertise in vertical applications, and the fact that it is one of the few vendors capable of covering the complete SAP lifecycle well.
The Report further highlights Accenture’s ability to staff even the biggest SAP projects - thanks to its deployment of the largest team of SAP-focused professionals (38,000) in the world - and its commitment to investing in innovation around the SAP ecosystem of solutions.
For the SAP services market as a whole, HfS Research highlights four key themes that will define this space in the future:
SAP in the cloud: Clients, as well as SAP, know that cloud is the future. That is why long-term, clients want SAP to provide a cloud roadmap, but not too fast!
Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) reduction: Running SAP today is an expensive proposition. The return on investment (RoI) is there, but the overall cost is still significant. Clients expect SAP to provide an answer—perhaps cloud?
Business analytics, big data and in-memory: Business analytics, big data, and in memory (e.g. HANA) are going to be huge—the most important industry trend aside from cloud computing.
One global SAP system: Closely linked to the RoI discussion is a more business relevant topic, i.e. the growing necessity, for compliance and time-to-market reasons, to consolidate the ‘zoo’ of existing SAP systems into a global one.
