Inclusion & Diversity at Accenture

Pierre Nanterme“Diversity is essential to our ability to deliver high performance to clients. Our global workforce gives clients access to a rich range of talent, representing different styles, perspectives and experiences. This diversity is a critical strength that we work hard to maintain and foster. It makes us a better company on every dimension.“

Pierre Nanterme
Chief Executive Officer

At Accenture, we take the widest possible view of inclusion and diversity, going beyond gender, race, religion, ethnicity and sexuality to create a work environment that welcomes all forms of differences. Each employee is a respected member of our team; we recognize and value individual similarities and differences. Our workforce is a reflection of the clients we serve, the suppliers we do business with and the communities in which we operate.

Inclusion and diversity are fundamental to our culture and core values, fostering an innovative and collaborative work environment that helps our people to be successful and enables Accenture to effectively compete in the global marketplace.

Inclusion & Diversity

It all starts with the individual. We capitalize on the diversity of our workforce across countries, cultures, generations and a broad mix of educational experiences and backgrounds, giving our clients access to a rich range of talent. Combining our employees’ diverse perspectives with our common values and methodologies is a powerful differentiator for Accenture.

Women at Accenture

Women

Women in our workforce:
Today, 35 percent of our workforce—almost 70,000 people—are women. In fiscal 2010, 33.5 percent of new hires were women.

Women leaders
More than 16 percent of Accenture senior executives and 25 percent of Accenture’s Global Management Committee are women. We also have three women on our Board of Directors. Accenture is committed to developing a pipeline of diverse leaders. In fiscal 2010, women represented 20 percent of promotions to the senior executive level.

International Women’s Day
In 2011, we recognized International Women’s Day—a day we’ve celebrated since 2001—with more than 140 events held in 34 countries. Accenture conducted its global research study, “Reinvent Opportunity: Looking Through a New Lens,” for release on International Women’s Day to help fuel dialogue on key issues affecting working women.

Training

Dollars spent on training:
Our nearly USD $600 million investment in training resulted in approximately 67 training hours per person for a total of more than 11 million hours of training delivered in fiscal 2010. Inclusion & Diversity training is one component of our training curriculum.

Supplier Diversity

Accenture’s Supplier Diversity program demonstrates our commitment to promoting economic growth in the communities in which we do business. We develop supplier business relationships through a framework anchored by our core values and code of business ethics. It is our policy that all certified and qualified diverse suppliers have equal opportunity to participate in the procurement sourcing process.

In fiscal 2009, we directed USD $266 million—nearly 16 percent —of our procurement spending in the United States to small and minority-, women- and other diversity group-owned businesses.
