ISO 14001 is the international standard for environmental management systems (EMS) and focuses on standardizing the way in which companies manage their impact on the environment. The certification is assessed by ISO, a body for setting voluntary standards for companies, government and society.
All of our offices in the Netherlands are ISO 14001 certified. This provides us with a framework for the structural monitoring of emissions, waste flows, raw materials, energy and other environmental aspects, and gives us good insight into our current environmental performance.
Following the ISO 14001 certification of our offices:
- We have drawn up an environmental policy for all of our employees.
- We have formulated goals to reduce impact on the environment that comply with the legal requirements, and are focused on continuous improvement.
- We review and monitor the goals set on a regular basis.
- We are audited by an external party on a regular basis to determine whether the EMS still complies with ISO 14001 guidelines.
Our goals
To minimize Accenture’s global footprint, the following goals have been adopted based on significant environmental aspects of our operational management:
- Energy consumption—Performing our work in a way that reduces the consumption of natural resources.
- CO2 emission—Reducing CO2 emissions caused by transport (purchased) or business travel by 10 percent in 2010 compared to emissions in 2006.
- Waste—Adopting more responsible waste management by applying the reduce, reuse and recycle principle where economically and practically viable.
