Locally, we partner with Jobcare (a charitable organisation that exists to empower individuals from a place of long-term unemployment to employability) to help refine and develop local market-specific training programmes for their clients and support in the day-to-day delivery of this training via workshops. In 2009, more than 25 Accenture employees committed their time and skills to assist Jobcare staff, who dealt with approximately 18,000 callers to their resource room during the year.
In particular, Accenture assisted in the following areas:
- Interview skills and preparation
- Employment preparation training
- Development of three Jobcare-led training programmes
- Training programme for Jobcare employees
- Company fundraising activities to support Jobcare in its work
- Professional advice around corporate governance
Accenture also supports the Trinity Access Programme (TAP), an initiative developed by Trinity College Dublin to help increase the proportion of students from low income groups progressing to higher education. Over the last three years Accenture employees have donated time and skills to TAP and have been directly involved in the delivery of workshops and activities as part of TAP’s Pre-University Orientation Programme. More than 100 first-year students partake in these orientation programmes annually.
