Northern Ballet, founded in 1969, is an ambitious touring company based in Leeds, which has gained an enviable reputation for high-quality narrative dance. Northern Ballet is innovative and represents high performance in the performing arts—making the company an ideal partner for Accenture.
|
The company, along with the Northern Ballet Orchestra, tours for up to 30 weeks, performing in more than 20 towns and cities throughout England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and as far afield as Bangkok and Beijing.
It aims to give a unique dance experience. Using the best of classical ballet traditions, it creates dance with a story—understandable to any audience—providing first-class entertainment that, at the same time, challenges convention. Recent productions have included Wuthering Heights, Dangerous Liaisons, Romeo & Juliet, The Nutcracker, Peter Pan and A Christmas Carol. In 2011, Northern Ballet will stage the world premiere of Cleopatra, an eagerly awaited ballet based on the life of the Egyptian queen.
During 2010, Accenture will have hosted events for clients and employees in Glasgow, Manchester and Leeds. Accenture was also the 2010 Season Sponsor of Dangerous Liaisons at the Theatre Royal in Glasgow, and will be the 2011 Season Sponsor of Cleopatra at the Festival Theatre in Edinburgh. As part of the partnership, Accenture has also hosted a series of community events in Manchester and Leeds to let sick and disadvantaged children experience the magic of ballet theatre.
Phil Swallow, an Accenture senior executive, said: “There is an ever-growing sense of confidence and creativity about the North, which we think Northern Ballet reflects, and we are tapping into as a business. As a result, a powerful relationship has developed between our two organisations and we continue to support Northern Ballet in any way we can. We are proud to partner such a high performing company.”
