The story behind the Origami butterfly

Accenture in Belgium and Luxembourg has chosen an ‘Origami butterfly’ to reflect the main values we want to promote with the Accenture BeLux Innovation Awards for Financial Services.

The butterfly is a symbol of rebirth and innovation. It embodies the idea of development, transformation and accomplishment: the caterpillar evolves, develops wings, and takes flight in the shape of the butterfly. The butterfly emerges from its cocoon to show its assets to the world, just like a brilliant idea leaves a creative mind to surprise and serve the public. The green color stands for youth, vitality and energy, which constitute core features of an innovative enterprise.

When evoking the butterfly, one is also reminded of the well-known butterfly effect: small progresses today can make big differences in the future. In other words, a concept or product born today can grow and develop to reach high objectives tomorrow. The butterfly chosen to represent the Innovation Awards takes the specific form of an origami butterfly.

Origami is made of paper, which brings us to the essence of the Finance World: paper as the raw material for the notes that allow our economy to function on a daily basis. Finally, in some Asian countries, it is customary to give notes folded in origami style to wish peace and prosperity.

We would also like to wish all our candidates peace and success with their concepts, as well as growth and prosperity thanks to their innovative ideas! To summarize, the Origami butterfly is a perfect symbol of innovation and the financial sector. It also represents everything we wish for our innovation-minded candidates!
