The Next Smart Revolution- Smart Enterprise
At Samsung, sales of smartphones grew 150 percent over the past 12 months.
With the popularity of Android devices, the company expects this trend to continue. By 2015, almost one billion smart devices will be shipping annually. The growth of smartphones is fueled by three trends:
- Web 2.0 and social media like Facebook and Youtube
- The private use of favorite applications
- Expansion into the business domain by powerful tablet products
By 2013, one billion people will use smart devices for work. Now, more than 30 percent of smartphone usage takes place in a business context. As more companies let employees bring in their own devices, this number will rise, and this trend will become even more important to Samsung.
The smart era is here. And the next smart revolution is taking place in the enterprise.
Samsung is providing enterprise customers with integrated solutions and services across all devices by working with collaboration partners to build the enterprise mobility ecosystem. An enterprise alliance with vendors and system integrators is allowing Samsung to go the extra mile in supporting extra features.
For its enterprise customers, the company provides mobile solutions that are both vertical (by industry and function) and horizontal (enabled by an integrating platform), including:
- Security
- Connectivity
- Business applications
- Virtualization
- Messaging
For example, health care solutions are in demand as a way to manage costs and an aging population. A Samsung tablet puts ready information in the hands of the doctors. Perhaps most interesting, patients' satisfaction far exceeds that of the physicians because the patients can actually see and understand what the doctor is talking about. The "lesson learned" is this: companies needs to consider all stakeholders and imagine how an innovation will create benefits beyond the mobility itself.
"Keep an eye on Samsung, as we introduce innovative solutions," says Kim. "We're looking forward to becoming your 'smart' business partner."
