Three studies uncover opportunities for companies to make improvements in management of innovation processes. Innovation is a top priority for companies seeking to grow in the wake of the economic downturn, but flaws in managing innovation may hinder their progress, according to three studies released today by Accenture. These findings emerged from three innovation-focused research studies Accenture conducted in the first half of 2009. Learn more about Accenture’s recent innovation research and implications: Cross-industry Innovation Research Accenture interviewed more than 630 executives in the U.K. and U.S. across several different industries, including automotive, banking, capital markets, consumer goods and services, electronics and high tech, insurance, manufacturing, pharmaceutical and medical products, and retail. The research showed that despite organizations’ recognition of innovation’s importance, process flaws and management practices hinder the business results.

These executives work for companies that generate nearly two-thirds of the industry’s annual global revenues, and the qualitative results from this study revealed a number of challenges and barriers to innovation.

The results include the primary barriers these executives face, particularly in light of the economy. Additionally, the study found that communications, high tech and media firms in Europe were leading the way in planned new-product and service launches for the coming year.
