Worldwide and US Systems Integration Services 2006 Vendor Shares: Top 10 Vendors for 2006, Doc # 210208, February 2008 This IDC study reviews the leading systems integrators in the United States and worldwide markets. It provides a top-10 listing of companies in each of these markets and briefly discusses their positioning and competitive outlook. For the second consecutive year, Accenture is at the top of the list or vendors worldwide in systems integration services with revenue of $6.69 billion. IDC comments that there was an increase in contract scope and complexity during 2006 and into 2007, and that Accenture was well positioned to capitalize on this trend given its global capabilities, robust methodologies and critical mass of consultants. Accenture’s continued revenue leadership correlates with the strong relationships Accenture develops with clients, particularly at the C-level, the report states. Accenture has become a trusted advisor to companies at a time when they seek strong guidance in navigating the changing IT terrain and as they boost spending on service-oriented architecture (SOA), infrastructure improvements and application services. In addition, Accenture’s strong growth in its SAP and Oracle service lines and in its information management services also contributes to this healthy performance, as Accenture helps its clients achieve high performance by optimizing their infrastructure investments. In the United States, Accenture jumped to the No. 2 spot. IDC notes that U.S. clients frequently turn to Accenture for help with two key challenges: mapping their future strategies for applications and developing strategies for sustainable systems that add business value. The IDC report concludes that projects involving application modernization, consolidation, rationalization, and optimization are driving growth in the systems integration market. Other elements also driving growth are specialized projects, particularly around service-oriented architecture—in which Accenture has invested so heavily—as well as vertical-specific enterprise resource planning solutions, master data management, and business intelligence and analytics.
